2023 closing projection for Chilean meat and outlook for animal protein in 2024

In Chile, the production and export of turkey, chicken and pork meat in 2023 showed mixed trends, with increases in some sectors and decreases in others. China, South Korea and Japan remain the main markets for Chilean pork. Analyzing in detail each protein produced and exported, Chilean Customs figures for 2023 indicate that the pork producing industry will export 296 thousand tons vara, which implies an increase in volume of 12% in relation to 2022, and a share in value of more than US$ 740,000 million, which means an increase of 15% compared to 2022. “The year 2024 is expected to be favorable for Chilean pork and poultry producers. After going through a two-year period of high production costs, global pig production decreased slightly, contributing to price stabilization, which should ensure greater profits for pork producers in 2024,” commented Juan Carlos Domínguez, President from ChileCarne.
