Egypt has once again taken the lead in global orange and strawberry exports for the third year in a row, with its agricultural exports surpassing 5.6 million tons in 2021 and more than three million tons of fresh produce since the start of 2022. To further enhance its export capabilities, Egypt has developed a modern export system for fresh agricultural products, which has been approved by the Saudi Food and Drug Authority and is used for exports to the EU and major countries like Japan, Australia, Canada, and the US. This innovative system, overseen by the Egyptian agricultural quarantine, employs the latest GPS technology to track exports from the farm to the consumer, providing better control and transparency in the export process. Additionally, the country has seen a significant increase in its agricultural and food industry exports in the first quarter of 2022, with a 10% rise in agricultural crop exports reaching $1.3 billion and a 5% increase in food industry exports to $1.2 billion compared to the same period last year.
