A study by Solidaridad and the Business Alliance for the Amazon has assessed the impact of the European Union's deforestation-free products regulation on Peru's coffee and cocoa value chains. The study revealed that 51% of coffee exports and 29% of cocoa exports are directed to EU countries, making these sectors highly sensitive to the new regulation. It also highlighted that 95% of national coffee and cocoa production is managed by small-scale producers, which poses a significant compliance challenge. The study, validated through public document reviews and stakeholder interviews, calls for improved information interoperability and more precise satellite images for small plots.
