The Bulgarian vine growers' association is seeking state support due to low purchase prices leading to financial losses. The cost of growing crops and producing grapes has risen significantly, while European program funding for new agricultural machinery is insufficient. The association is developing a strategy for Bulgarian viticulture and seeks national co-financing and an end to gray practices in the sector. There are 320 functioning wineries in the country, with about 300,000 decares of economic significance. However, exports are declining due to low prices and strong competition from other wine-producing countries.
