A vessel carrying 58,359 tonnes of wheat from the United States reached the outer anchorage of Chattogram port on Saturday, according to a press release issued by the Ministry of Food. This was the third consignment of wheat to reach Bangladesh under a government-to-government agreement between Bangladesh and the US. According to the press release, the ship, MV WF Artemis, arrived with the consignment as part of a cash purchase contract GtoG-02 signed in line with a memorandum of understanding between the two governments. Bangladesh has recently begun importing wheat from the US on a G2G basis, and under the GtoG-02 agreement, a total of 2,20,000 tonnes of wheat would be imported.
