The Vologda Region in Russia has successfully sown 4.3 thousand hectares of winter grain crops, including winter rye and wheat, for the 2025 harvest. The initial condition of the crops is satisfactory, with good branching and sufficient sugars. However, insufficient soil moisture during the first phase of hardening has affected the creation of a nutrient reserve. The soil temperature at the tillering node is currently +2⁰С, which could lead to carbohydrate depletion and increased damping-off processes. The future cold weather is expected to have a positive effect on the overwintering of the crops.
