50% of chicken is imported, eggs will not increase in price for Easter, Romanians are undercutting the price

No increase in current egg prices is expected before Easter. This was assured by the chairman of the Association for Industrial Poultry Breeding, Daniel Bozhankov. "There are enough Bulgarian eggs on the market," Bozhankov said on BNR. "Our production covers per capita consumption needs. We produce about 5 million eggs per day. Now production has decreased a little because of the bird flu, but producers have already started to recover," commented the chairman of the Industrial Poultry Association. Some of the Bulgarian eggs are exported, mainly to Greece, but also to Western European countries. In the case of chicken meat, the picture is different and only 50% of it in the commercial network is domestically produced. "At the moment, there are also many imported eggs from Romania on the market in our country, which are cheaper than the Bulgarian ones", commented Bozhankov.
