In Bashkiria, the agricultural community is actively engaging in both harvesting remaining crops and preparing for the sowing of winter crops, with 48% of total sown areas already harvested and 50% of the planned winter crop areas successfully sown as of September 16. The region, known for its challenging farming conditions, is utilizing hardy winter grains as a strategy to enhance yields and mitigate risks. To date, winter wheat and rye sowing has reached 142 thousand hectares and 41 thousand hectares respectively, accounting for 56% and 43% of the planned areas. Additionally, winter triticale, a hybrid of wheat and rye, is also being sown. The Ministry of Agriculture is overseeing efforts to ensure that harvested fields are properly prepared for winter to optimally absorb moisture and fertilizers, with a goal to process 1.322 million hectares, with 17% of this target already achieved.
