Sugar and glucose prices have dropped at the wholesale level in Egypt's local market, following a period of stability. The country's Minister of Supply and Internal Trade, Al-Moselhi, confirmed that Egypt is self-sufficient in sugar and announced a sufficient strategic reserve of sugar, lasting 6.7 months. The price of a ton of white sugar has decreased by 50 pounds, now at 11,900 pounds, and glucose prices have dropped by 200 pounds to 14,300 pounds per ton. The consumer price of sugar per kilo is approximately 13.5 pounds.
