500 Tons of Watermelons Imported to Ukraine from Turkey: Safety Checked

From the beginning of June, specialists from the State Service of Ukraine for Food Safety and Consumer Protection at the state border processed documents for the import of over 500 tons of watermelons. This was reported by the State Food and Consumer Service. Control was carried out at checkpoints in the territories of Odesa, Mykolaiv, Kherson, Kirovohrad, and Cherkasy regions. The State Food and Consumer Service emphasized that watermelons undergo thorough phytosanitary control before entering the trading network, including inspection and, if necessary, laboratory testing for the presence of harmful organisms, pesticide residues, and other substances that may pose a danger to human health. Ukrainian farmers plan to double the areas under melon crops and other vegetables. The head of the Department of Agriculture of the Kherson Regional State Administration, Dmytro Yunusov, reported that they will not become cheaper.
