Russia: 850 tons of pink salmon rejected on Sakhalin due to poor quality

The Sakhalin branch of Rosselkhoznadzor rejected 850 tons of pink salmon from local producers due to the poor quality of the fish and caviar, the press service of the Primorsky Interregional Office of Rosselkhoznadzor told journalists. "In eight batches of canned pink salmon weighing 850 tons, the violations concerned the quality of fresh-frozen fish and salted caviar," the office said. In addition, since the beginning of the year, underweight fish has been found in a large batch of canned pink salmon. In total, laboratory specialists checked over 58 thousand samples of various fish products, including live, chilled and frozen fish, caviar, fillets and canned goods. The products were checked for compliance with safety and quality requirements established by the technical regulations of the Customs Union and GOSTs.
