The article highlights the vibrant vegetable markets in the Rajshahi region of Bangladesh, where farmers are successfully cultivating a variety of summer vegetables, including red amaranth, bottle gourd, and spinach, among others. This has led to increased economic stability for farmers, even during the Covid-19 pandemic. The Department of Agriculture Extension (DAE) has set a target for producing 8.85 lakh tonnes of summer vegetables across eight districts in the current Kharif-1 season. Farmers are also experiencing profitability through the cultivation of other crops such as paddy and jute, and by growing vegetables in homesteads and unirrigated lands. The region has seen significant vegetable production in recent years, with over 19 lakh tonnes produced in the previous winter season, and 36.22 lakh tonnes of potatoes harvested, providing good yields and market prices for farmers.
