The Ministry of Agriculture of the Republic of Kazakhstan plans to introduce a ban on the import of eggs from other countries. Should we expect a product shortage?

Kazakhstan intends to introduce a ban on the import of chicken eggs by road from third countries and from the EAEU for a period of six months. The corresponding draft order was published by the Ministry of Agriculture. According to the plans of the Ministry of Agriculture, the restriction may be introduced from May 1, 2024. “Introduce a ban for a period of six months on the import of fresh chicken eggs into the territory of the Republic of Kazakhstan by road from third countries and from the countries of the Eurasian Economic Union,” says the text of the order published on the website of open regulatory legal acts. The ban includes supplies of eggs from the EAEU and third countries; this decision was made on December 1 by the Interdepartmental Commission on Foreign Trade Policy and Participation in International Economic Organizations.
