Russia's production of protected soil vegetables is on the rise, with a 1.6% increase from last year, reaching 135 thousand tons as of February 13. The harvest includes 59.4 thousand tons of tomatoes and 73.4 thousand tons of cucumbers. The leading regions for this production include Lipetsk, Moscow, Kaluga, Volgograd, Novosibirsk, Tyumen, Krasnodar and Stavropol territories, the Karachay-Cherkess and Chechen Republic, and the Republics of Bashkortostan and Tatarstan. This growth is facilitated by government initiatives and additional support from individual regions as part of a federal project aimed at developing the vegetable and potato growing industries.
