The USDA forecasts a 5% increase in global sunflower seed harvest for the 2023/2024 economic year, reaching 55.1 million tons. However, this is still 749,000 tons less than the projected consumption of 55.8 million tons. The closing stock is anticipated to be around 3 million tons. In the European Union, sunflower seeds are expected to cover the same area as last year, 4.9 million hectares. Countries like Bulgaria, Romania, and France may replant areas affected by dry weather or excessive rainfall with sunflower seeds.
