Spain's milk production is facing a significant decline due to climate change, the spread of EHE disease among cattle, and the impact of Hurricane Kirk. The disease has severely affected cattle in regions like Galicia, leading to high mortality rates and a drop in milk production. Hurricane Kirk has also destroyed thousands of hectares of corn plantations, the main source of fodder, increasing production costs and expected to further decrease milk production. The farmers' union, UPA, has requested that dairy industries and distributors adjust purchase contracts with a price increase of at least 0.50 euros per litre to cover farmers' production costs and ensure the continuity of milk production.
