The Torre Guaceto State Nature Reserve, located near Brindisi, is a model of eco-sustainable agriculture, with a small farm community reviving crops towards extinction and promoting biodiversity. The Protection Consortium has supported eco-friendly farming since 2001, leading to a 30% increase in organic crops out of a total production area. The reserve, which hosts a significant portion of agricultural land, has seen a rise in organic farming practices, with about 60% of the Fiaschetto Tomato production marketed abroad. The Consortium has introduced a reward system to encourage sustainable practices and has launched the Gold Project to brand olive oil produced organically within the reserve. This initiative aims to combine slow food with organic certification, representing a significant step towards environmental sustainability and improved producer remuneration.
