On a daily basis, Bulgaria is importing 100 tons of blue plums from Macedonia at a price of BGN 0.40/kg, according to Todor Djikov, Acting Deputy Minister of Agriculture. To ensure the fruit's quality, the ministry will conduct self-referral checks for its condition, pesticide residues, and heavy metals. Bulgaria is backing grain producers who protested against the influx of Ukrainian imports and is ready to implement Article 219 of Regulation 1308 of 2013 to mitigate market disruptions. The country also seeks to activate the crisis reserve to compensate its producers. This approach is supported by Romania, Hungary, and Poland, which are also affected by the large-scale import of Ukrainian goods.
