A research team from the Institute of Sustainable Agriculture has studied the response to drought of 340 different types of peas, with the aim of understanding the physiological and molecular mechanisms responsible for drought resistance. The researchers hope that this knowledge will help in the development of new pea varieties that are better adapted to climate change and can withstand the effects of water scarcity. The study, which was funded by the EU's Horizon 2020 program, is part of ongoing research on cultivation within the framework of two other European Horizon projects.
