Vietnam's jackfruit exports saw a significant increase in 2023, with the export value in December reaching 36.3 million USD, marking a 101.5% increase from the previous year. The total export value for the year was 236.8 million USD, a 44.6% increase from 2022. China is the primary consumer of Vietnamese jackfruit, particularly the Thai variety, which is used in dried products and jackfruit powder. The surge in the price of red-flesh jackfruit is attributed to China's increased demand. The growth in exports has been facilitated by the signing of fruit and vegetable export protocols during General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong's visit to China in November 2022.
