In September, Brazilian rice exports saw a significant increase, with a total of 148.5 thousand tons and revenue of US$ 61 million, marking an 81.6% increase in volume and 83.1% increase in revenue compared to the previous month, as reported by the Brazilian Rice Industry Association (Abiarroz). The main destinations for the exports included Senegal, Dominican Republic, and the United States. However, the logistical situation in Rio Grande do Sul, caused by floods, continues to pose challenges for the rice export industry, leading to higher freight costs, container shortages, and reduced competitiveness. Despite these challenges, imports of rice also increased in September, reaching 103.5 thousand tons and disbursement of US$ 52.8 million.
