Brazil's rice exports have seen a significant increase in the first five months of 2023, with a volume of 197.6 thousand tons and revenue of US$ 68.1 million in May alone. This represents a substantial increase from the same period in 2022, with a total of 702.6 thousand tons exported and revenue of US$ 239.7 million from January to May. Additionally, rice imports into Brazil also increased during this period. Processed rice shipments in May reached 18.5 thousand tons, with Canada being one of the main importers. A promotional initiative was also taken at SIAL Canada in April by the Brazilian Rice Project in collaboration with ApexBrasil, Mapa, and CCBC, aiming to further boost Brazilian rice exports to Canada.
