During a visit to Chuvashia, Dmitry Patrushev, the Russian Minister of Agriculture, learned that the country's hop farms, spanning 4,000 hectares, need around 140 specialized harvesters to meet production demands. In 2023, Chuvashia developed the first domestic hop harvester prototype to address this issue. The region is also focusing on overcoming challenges in hop cultivation, such as a shortage of specialized machinery and high-quality hops, by establishing a competence center. This center is dedicated to phytosanitary monitoring, research on hop planting materials, and professional training. Furthermore, President Vladimir Putin has extended a socio-economic development program for Chuvashia through 2030, which includes initiatives to boost hop production.
