The Accelerated Innovation Delivery Initiative (AID-I), backed by USAID, is aiming to provide stress-tolerant seeds to farmers in remote areas of Malawi, Tanzania, and Zambia, with the help of the International Maize and Wheat Improvement Center (CIMMYT) and over 20 partners. The project aims to improve maize and legume seed systems by providing diverse seed options, setting up mega-demonstrations, and introducing fall armyworm-tolerant maize hybrids and improved legume varieties. The initiative also focuses on strengthening seed stockists and linking seed growers and buyers, with the goal of providing improved seeds to hundreds of thousands of farmers through agricultural development agents.
