Vietnam plans to export passion fruit and pomelo to the United States and Australia, as the country's fruit and vegetable exports have seen a significant increase of 27.4% in the past 11 months, generating nearly US$6.62 billion. The country is currently negotiating phytosanitary measures with these countries to ensure the quality of the agricultural products. However, Vietnamese firms exporting to Australia will have to meet strict technical requirements, including labeling and food safety standards, which are higher than those of the US and the EU. To successfully penetrate the Australian market, Vietnamese authorities have been urged to improve quality control, registration, and evaluation systems, and to enhance promotion and branding efforts.
