Mexico is expanding its agricultural innovation initiatives, particularly the Cultivos para México project, to African countries such as Malawi, Tanzania, Zambia, and Sudan, to boost the sustainable production of staple grains and improve food security. This initiative, a collaboration between the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development (Sader) and Cimmyt, aims to bolster seed systems for drought-resistant maize and legumes using the MasAgro methodology. This move underscores Mexico's commitment to global food security, climate change resilience, and inclusive agricultural development, with the potential to benefit millions through the production of corn, wheat, and beans. These efforts build on the success of the Cultivos para México project in Mexico and Latin America, addressing the challenges of climate change and migratory trends.
