Strategie Grains has lowered its forecast for the EU's 2024 sunflower and rapeseed harvests due to adverse weather in Eastern Europe, predicting a 10% and 16.5% decrease from 2023, respectively. These reductions are expected to support oil crop prices in Europe and Ukraine. The soybean harvest forecast remains unchanged, but new EU deforestation regulations could drive up prices. While the rapeseed area is expected to grow by 4% next season, sunflower areas will stay the same. Canola futures on the Paris MATIF have responded with slight increases, and Canada's canola crop forecast has been raised to 19 million tons, similar to last season's yield.
