Agricultural producers in Kazakhstan have sown 7.4 million hectares with crops as of May 20

As of May 20, agricultural crops in Kazakhstan have been sown on an area of 7,376.9 thousand hectares. Spring field work is proceeding according to schedule, the press service of the Ministry of Agriculture of Kazakhstan reported.

According to the Ministry of Agriculture on the specified date, the following areas have been sown:

• in Akmola region — 1,599.3 thousand hectares;

• in North Kazakhstan region — 1,013.5 thousand hectares;

• in Kostanay region — 745.3 thousand hectares;

• in Pavlodar region — 610 thousand hectares;

• in Karaganda region — 548.1 thousand hectares.

Crop structure by type:

• grain crops — 4,645.9 thousand hectares;

• oil crops — 1,658.5 thousand hectares;

• forage crops — 475.5 thousand hectares;

• vegetable crops — 101.7 thousand hectares;

• potatoes — 77.4 thousand hectares;

• melon crops — 78.9 thousand hectares;

• cotton — 141.2 thousand hectares;

• sugar beet — 17.7 thousand hectares;

• rice — 52.3 thousand hectares.

According to the information, this year it is planned to apply 1.9 million tons of mineral fertilizers. As of May 20, contracts have been signed for the supply of 1 million tons.
