Peru: Agricultural producers recognize SENASA as a strategic ally in the export of pecans to China

With the aim of highlighting the effort and dedication of the key players in the pecan export process with the People's Republic of China, the Chamber of Commerce, Industry and Tourism of Ica and the Association of Producers of this region recognized the participation of Angel Manero, head of MIDAGRI and Vilma Gutarra, head of SENASA, as strategic allies in obtaining this result. The entry of pecans to China is the result of public-private work, which began 8 years ago when small producers and companies from Ica asked SENASA to manage this access. In this sense, during the APEC Economic Leaders Week, the Peruvian government through MIDAGRI managed to successfully promote this management. “The export of Peruvian pecans to this important Asian market will allow the Ica region to expand the export of this fruit to a country with 1.4 billion potential consumers,” said Vilma Gutarra, head of SENASA, in a formal ceremony.
