A pan-African association, Afruibana, recently held a webinar focusing on the role of agriculture in the new post-Cotonou EU-ACP agreement. This agreement, which is yet to be ratified, aims to cover areas such as sustainable development, human rights, and peace and security. Willi Schulz-Greve, Head of Unit at the European Commission, stressed the importance of agriculture and the transition to sustainable farming methods. The new agreement will also strengthen cooperation in research. Denis Loeillet, a banana expert, highlighted the opportunity for Africa to differentiate its products and build social and environmental sustainability in the banana sector.
