A technical committee from the Ministries of Agriculture and Irrigation in Egypt has met to plan and implement the cultivation of sugarcane using advanced techniques such as seedling systems, modern irrigation, and agricultural practices. The committee agreed to divide the planting areas between Luxor and Qena governorates, with the Ministry of Water Resources and Irrigation overseeing Luxor's 10,000 acres using drip irrigation, and the Ministry of Agriculture and Land Reclamation managing Qena's 10,000 acres with developed irrigation systems. The plan also includes the establishment of experimental demonstration fields to further improve irrigation, agricultural practices, and seedling planting techniques in sugarcane cultivation.
