A report by an agricultural officer in Nakhon Ratchasima Province, Thailand, has highlighted issues contributing to record high chili pepper prices. With 4,015 rai of chili plantation across the province, the current red pepper price is 120-130 baht per kg, and green chili 40-45 baht per kg, due to challenges such as flooding and cold disasters that reduced productivity. Other factors include disease outbreaks and an alternate planting model. However, it is anticipated that by early February 2021, as production hits the market, prices are expected to stabilize.
