The Thai Sea Salt Development Committee, led by Advisor to the Minister of Agriculture and Cooperatives, Mr. Alongkorn Ponlaboot, has ratified a minimum price for Thai sea salt to stabilize the market. The minimum prices for white, medium, and black salt are 1,800 baht, 1,500 baht, and 1,300 baht per tonne, respectively. This decision aims to address the issue of dropping prices due to climate change and natural disasters by regulating the release of sea salt to the market. All salt farm cooperatives are expected to adhere to these minimum prices, and salt traders and industries are encouraged to buy salt at these prices, especially during the summer production season. The committee is also working on integrating Thai sea salt development from research and production to branding and marketing, with a focus on agricultural tourism and sustainability.
