The Ministry of Water, Agriculture, Livestock, Fisheries and the Environment of the Region of Murcia, Spain, has launched a campaign to boost the consumption of stone fruits. The campaign is part of the government's efforts to support the sector, which is crucial for the region's economy, accounting for a significant portion of the country's fruit and vegetable production. The region exports around 92% of its stone fruit production to European countries, with Germany, France, Italy, and the UK being the main importers. Despite weather-related challenges leading to a reduction in production, the campaign is expected to boost the sector's economic profitability. The campaign was announced by Antonio Luengo, who also warned about the potential threats to the Murcian countryside due to the Spanish government's plans to halt transfers, a move that could negatively impact many families and the environment.
