In the first five months of 2021, Peruvian agro-exports experienced a 19% increase compared to the same period in the previous year, totaling 2,852 million dollars, as reported by the Ministry of Agrarian Development and Irrigation (Midagri). This growth was largely driven by non-traditional exports, which saw a 20% increase to 2,276 million dollars, while traditional agricultural exports remained stable at 86 million dollars. The surge was led by the sales of fresh grapes, avocados, mangoes, asparagus, and other fruits, with the United States, the Netherlands, Spain, Chile, Ecuador, China, England, Hong Kong, Mexico, and South Korea being the main destination countries. This export activity resulted in a surplus in the agricultural trade balance of 400 million dollars.
