The Ministry of Agrarian Development and Irrigation (Midagri), through Agro Rural, is promoting the rehabilitation of ancestral terraces as a strategic public policy aimed at the recovery of agricultural soils, the efficient use of water resources, and the productive reactivation of the highland zones of the country, valuing a millennial agricultural infrastructure that forms part of the cultural and productive heritage of Peru. The intervention, of national scope, contemplates the progressive recovery of 120,000 hectares of terraces in 11 regions, benefiting more than one million inhabitants of the Andean zones. This action contributes to strengthening food security, environmental sustainability, and resilience to climate change, through the recovery of the productive capacity of the agricultural terraces.
