Bulgaria is divided into 11 agroecological regions according to the prevailing soil type, moisture availability, and climate. All of them are represented in the agroecological map of the country, prepared by the N. Pushkarov Institute. In a series of publications, Agri.BG will present all regions in the country as well as the crops suitable for cultivation in them. The chernozem region is the first region on the agroecological map. It covers the Danube Plain, the South Dobrudja Plateau, and part of the Ludogorie. This region includes 11 sub-regions, which occupy the Northern part of the Danube Hilly Plain and Northeastern Bulgaria. The territory is occupied by chernozem and meadow soils, which are in different ratios in the individual sub-regions. To the south, they border gray forest soils, and meadow soils are noticeable in the river valleys.
