Due to the impact of the El Niño phenomenon causing high temperatures in Peru, mango production and exports have significantly decreased, leading to record high prices in the US. The current season has seen an 80% reduction in export volume compared to the previous one, resulting in less than a million boxes of mangoes entering the US weekly, as opposed to the usual two million. However, relief is expected as mango imports from Mexico are set to begin soon, and supplies from Guatemala, Costa Rica, and other regions are anticipated to enter the market in March and April.
