The Alenquer City Council has expanded its international wine cooperation agreement, first established with Benkovac in 2017 and later updated in 2021 to include Bosnian municipality Ljubuski, adding more partners such as the National Institute for Agricultural and Veterinary Research (INIAV) and the Faculty of Agriculture of the University of Zagreb. The agreement aims to improve technical and academic aspects of wine production by exchanging indigenous grape varieties and promoting wine and cultural connection. The success of this cooperation is demonstrated by the creation of wines like Empatia Vital Branco, awarded multiple times. The extension of the agreement to Bosnia and Herzegovina is expected to benefit both countries by exchanging knowledge and grape varieties.
