Argentina: They evaluate the favorable effects of covering alfalfa rolls with blankets

The alfalfa roll is a fundamental forage resource in bovine meat and milk establishments, with different degrees of intensification. For this reason, it is important to work on processes and technologies that allow improving their harvest and storage until they reach the animal's mouth. In this sense, from the Forage Resources group of INTA Manfredi –Córdoba– they recognize that protecting them with a blanket is a productive strategy that allows them to conserve their nutrients, in addition to avoiding economic losses by reducing the impact of rainfall, soil moisture and radiation solar. Alfalfa is a pasture that provides both effective fiber, crude protein and metabolizable energy, constituting an effective source of high quality fiber.
