Algeria and Libya have significantly increased their purchases of Russian wheat in the 2022/2023 agricultural year, with Algeria buying 2.1 million tons compared to just 28 thousand tons the previous year. Kenya, Sudan, and South Africa have also increased their wheat imports from Russia. However, Nigeria, Cameroon, the Democratic Republic of the Congo, Ghana, and Angola have reduced their purchases of Russian wheat. The head of the Union of Grain Exporters expects Russian grain exports to Africa to continue growing in the current agricultural year.
