The Algerian government has extended its ban on the export of several strategic items until further notice due to the medical crisis and the need to supply the domestic market. The ban includes antibacterial hand masks and gels, garlic, and other items such as wheat, flour, dried vegetables, rice, food flour, cooking oil, sugar, coffee, mineral water, ketchup, processed foods, dairy products, baby milk, fresh fruit and vegetables, red and white meat, medical and parental equipment, medicines, body cleaning products, and household cleaners. The measure was initially announced in April 2020 as part of efforts to combat the Covid-19 pandemic.
