Thai durian exports are expected to decrease by over 50% this year due to Chinese inspection requirements and the detection of alkaline tender yellow in the goods. This has led to the suspension of many Thai durian processing factories, as Chinese investors have suspended their funding. The Thai government is planning to negotiate with China to separate the detection standards for the shell and the flesh. Meanwhile, Thai laboratories have the capacity to test the large number of containers during the peak export period. China is also planning to discuss other facilitation measures with Thailand.
