The number of durian export processing factories in eastern Thailand has dropped sharply from more than 1,000 last year to less than 300 now. Sources from several durian export processing factories revealed to the National Business Daily that as of early May, there were 807 durian processing factories registered in eastern Thailand, but less than 300 actually purchased durian, while last year the number exceeded 1,000.
