Almería, Spain: Tomato, eggplant, and zucchini remain in a price crisis

(R.P.) The final stretch of the month of February is not being good commercially for products such as eggplant, zucchini and tomato. The high temperatures have caused greater production to which we must add competition from other countries, so supply has skyrocketed and prices are minimal. There are many crops that were transplanted in the fall that have already been removed, but the volume that is being harvested is high. Both fine and fat zucchini sell between forty-five and twenty-five euro cents per kilo. The long eggplant does not exceed cuts of forty-five cents and has finishes of thirty euro cents, and the striped type amounts to first cuts of one uro with ten cents and has finishes of fifty-five euro cents per kilo.
