Austria has launched the AMA quality seal program to encourage the use of domestically grown grain and flour by awarding a quality seal to products that adhere to specific standards. This initiative aims to support regional production, ensure the origin of the grain, and reduce the reliance on imported products. The program, which is free for farmers to join and offers potential subsidies for inspection costs, mandates that grain farms comply with certain criteria, including basic measures and a minimum of three "ÖPUL points." However, only a small percentage of farmers have enrolled so far. The quality seal is expected to help stabilize market prices by favoring domestic products over imports and may extend to other products like rapeseed oil and sugar in the future.
