Importers Johanna Foods and Johanna Beverage Company have filed an emergency relief request with the U.S. Court of International Trade (CIT) against a 50% tariff on Brazil. This is a new offensive by the group to try to contain the taxation on the country, which is responsible for more than half of all orange juice sold in the U.S. The request was filed on Tuesday (23) according to a document obtained by Estadão/Broadcast. The applicants are requesting a temporary restraining order, a precautionary measure, and/or a permanent injunction to prevent the imposition and application of the tariff on Brazil, starting August 1.
