On October 18th, the newspaper La Nación published an article reporting that Fernando Brun, the number two of the Argentine Foreign Ministry, and three other high-ranking officials from Javier Milei's government had traveled to "a tiny Caribbean island" with "first-class tickets and five-star hotel accommodations". The official delegation participated in the Caribbean Agriculture Week. Or rather, that was the excuse, as it was an invitation from the IICA (Inter-American Institute for Cooperation on Agriculture) in the context of a strong internal competition to secure the position of director general of that Organization of American States (OAS) body. The leadership of the IICA is currently held by an Argentine, Manuel Otero, who has completed two terms and must step aside.
