Taiwanese authorities have completed a technical visit to potentially open the market for Paraguayan poultry meat, a process that has taken over eight years. Blanca Ceuppens, president of Pechugon, is optimistic about the im impending authorization and believes that a low tariff will be set for Paraguayan poultry products. Exports are expected to commence in the first quarter of the year, with Paraguay likely to compete against US poultry prices. In the meantime, other Paraguayan meats continue to find favor in the Taiwanese market, contributing to growth in export volumes. Despite challenges such as smuggling and drought, the agricultural sector is expected to have a good harvest, aided by recent rains.
