A new study by the EU's Joint Research Center predicts that the bloc's trade agenda will have a positive impact on its economy and agri-food sector, leading to significant increases in exports and limited increases in imports, resulting in a positive trade balance. The study, which covers twelve trade agreements in the agri-food sector, finds that the EU's approach to tariff quotas is effective in protecting vulnerable sectors. The research also expects a growth in agri-food exports from the EU to its free trade agreement partners and a rise in total EU agri-food exports, despite concerns about the potential negative effects of trade negotiations. The study will be used to guide future trade negotiations and can support the sustainability of the EU agricultural sector.
