In 2022, Turkey's sea fish catches increased by 2.3%, totaling 254,535 tons, with anchovy being the most caught species at 125,980 tons. Aquaculture production rose by 6.2% to 849,808 tons, accounting for 30% of the total. From 2013 to 2023, the total fish catch was 2.81 million tons, with anchovy being the most caught species in the last decade. Bonito-torik was the second most caught species. Anchovies are important for the fishing industry, economic income, and are used for making fish meal and oil.
